Historical background: Lingyin Temple was first built during the Xianhe period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (326-334 AD), with a history of nearly 1,700 years. It is one of the important temples of the Linji School of Zen Buddhism in China.
Geographical location: Located at No. 1, Fayun Lane, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
Area: Covers an area of about 80,000 square meters.
Main buildings: Built on the mountain, it is majestic. The main buildings include the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Hall, the Medicine Master Hall, the Sutra Library, etc. There is a Feilai Peak in Lingyin Temple. It is said that it was brought from Wutai Mountain by the Indian monk Huili from India, implying that Buddhism was introduced into China. There are many cliff carvings on Feilai Peak, including the famous "Great Compassionate and Merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva", which is a treasure of Tang Dynasty stone carving art.
